St Patrick's Day

Get your Green on!  St Patrick's Day is on March 17th, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.  He is credited with bringing Christianity to parts of Ireland. What does this day have to do with leprechauns? Leprechauns were first written about in old Irish fables, so it makes sense they'd be associated with a holiday dedicated to Irish culture.  It also has some connections to the 1959 Disney film Darby O'Gill and the Little People, which featured leprechauns and was popular in the US at the same time as St Patrick's parades. The tradition of wearing green is tied to the folklore that leprechauns can pinch people they see, but wearing green makes you invisible to them.
